MARIANNA BOTTINI - ITALY
BORN 07 NOVEMBER

Marianna Bottini née Motroni-Andreozzi (7 November 1802 – 25 January 1858) was an Italian composer and harp teacher. She was born in Lucca, daughter of the nobleman Sebastiano Motroni-Andreozzi and his wife Eleonora Flekestein.

She studied counterpoint with Domenico Quilici and was admitted to the Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna in 1820 as an 'honorary master composer'. In 1823 she married the Marquis Lorenzo Bottini, a prominent political figure. She was one of the few women whose music was played for the traditional festival in honor of St. Cecilia. She died in Lucca.

OXANA OMELCHUK - BELARUS
BORN 07 NOVEMBER

Born in Belarus, Oxana Omelchuk completed her master’s degree in composition with Prof. Johannes Fritsch and studies in electronic composition with Prof. Michael Beil. 

Alongside premieres at various festivals she received commissions from the German Music Council, WDR, Arts Foundation NRW, ON – New Music Cologne, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Festival ACHT BRÜCKEN and SWR. In addition to collaboration with numerous ensembles, including Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Garage (Cologne), Ensemble hand werk (Cologne), Ensemble mosaik (Berlin), SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart, Theater Triebwerk (Hamburg), her work has been broadcast on the radio on several occasions and a portrait of her was published in the journal Zeitschrift für Neue Musik (2004). 

As a musician Oxana Omelchuk plays in various formations, for instance with Constantin Herzog (analogue synthesizer and double bass), Florian Zwißler (electric organs and analogue synthesizer), and the Simon Rummel Ensemble. She is the recipient of various awards and scholarships, most recently she was nominated for the German Music Author Awards 2019 in the category “ensemble with electronics”. She lives and works in Cologne.
