Check out our new ALBUM OF THE WEEK!
Each week, we will post a different album that will make your Wednesday way easier! This week, listen to an exerpt of:
FÊTE GALANTE: A DANCE DREAM
P.s. We are sorry for not giving you a link for the full album,
but it is not available on any music platform.
About the album:
FÊTE GALANTE is the work that reunites music by two of Britain’s leading female composers of the early twentieth century: Ethel Smyth and Liza Lehmann.
This opera in one act was described by Ethel Smyth as a "Dance Dream", and it is an evocation of the traditional commedia dell’arte – the world of Harlequin, Pierrot and Columbine.
Donne recommends the article below with a full review of the album by Thea Derks "Tuneful melodies and subdued tragedy in Fête Galante Ethel Smyth".
